Marilyn Sibert was born April 29, 1940, in Parkers Prairie to John and Leona (Jahnke) Hollatz. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church North Effington in Parkers Prairie and graduated from Parkers Prairie High School in 1958. She was united in marriage to Ronald Sibert on June 25, 1960. They made their home in Parkers Prairie where they raised two sons, Terry Sr. and James.
Marilyn worked for Penrose Oil and Chevrolet Parkers Prairie for 13 years. In 1976 she started working for First National Bank/Midwest Bank where she remained until she retired in 1999. During this time, she was also a licensed Life Insurance Agent and Real Estate Agent. After her retirement, she worked part-time for Prairie Pine Mutual Insurance for 10 years.
After the death of her husband in 2010, Marilyn moved to Colorado Springs where she was able to spend her time with son James and family. She returned to Minnesota in 2016, making her home in Alexandria. She spent the next couple of years being a strong support to her oldest son Terry before his death in 2018. Marilyn loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, card games and loved music. Marilyn was an active member of her church and was the church organist at Zion Lutheran North Effington, playing a total of 30 years throughout her lifetime.
Marilyn is survived by one son, James (Jody) of Colorado Springs, CO; daughter-in-law, Colleen Sibert of Alexandria, five grandchildren Erin (Floyd) Keller, Terry Sibert Jr, Matthew Sibert, Kayla Sibert and Taylor Sibert; great grandchildren, Tatum, Aubree, Ethan and Laynee; sisters-in-law, Elaine Mann and Anita Sibert; nieces and nephews; along with many cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Ron; son, Terry Sr., parents; sister, Myrtle Meissner; brothers-in-law Clinton Meissner, Emerson Sibert, Donald Mann; nephews, Kerry Meissner, Roger Sibert and Les Sibert
Marilyn died peacefully on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at Edgewood Vista Assisted Living in Alexandria at the age of 83 years old.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church, North Effington with Rev. Dennis Angland officiating. Burial will take place at the church cemetery at a later date.
