Marilyn Weedman

April 8, 1956 — July 15, 2017

Marilyn Martha Weedman was born on April 8, 1956 the youngest of a set of twins to Edmund and Martha (Buysse) Polfliet of Marshall, Minnesota. Marilyn attended grade school in Taunton, and graduated from Minneota High School. She then went on to attend St. Cloud School of Nursing, later obtaining her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Moorhead State University and a Master’s of Science Degree in Management from Cardinal Stritch University. Marilyn worked at the St. Cloud Hospital for one year and then worked the next thirty-four years at Douglas County Hospital retiring as the Director of the Post Anesthesia Recovery Unit.

On July 30, 1977, Marilyn married Kevin Weedman. Kevin’s birthday is July 31, and their wedding date was picked so he would not forget. The couple originally met as they were the attendants for their older siblings wedding. It was a little over a year later the two were reintroduced to each other at a summer dance. The two did everything together. They enjoyed working together as nurses, going on cruises together and traveling the world.
When they were not working or traveling, Marilyn enjoyed organizing anything and everything. She dabbled at gardening, exercising and scrapbooking. She loved taking pictures and looking at photographs. She was also a member of multiple clubs in the area: Wrestling Moms, Hockey Moms, Retired Nurses Group, the “Do Nothing Club”, Book Club, Birthday Club and the WRAP Club: Weedman’s Retiree and Partners Club. Marilyn loved having a non-IPA beer and dinner with family and friends.

Between Marilyn and Kevin, they knew everyone and could rarely go anywhere running into someone they knew and could visit with. Marilyn could talk to anyone! She was a happy, always forgiving, loving woman. She was the family member and friend that would always send a card for special occasions or just to let you know she was thinking of you. She was a caregiver in every minute of her waking day. Whether it be at work or at home doting on everyone. She made sure no one was hungry or thirsty. Her son enjoyed driving her crazy and giving her hugs, Kevin loved spending every minute with her. She was the glue to this family. Marilyn was an amazing woman, the best wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandma, sister and friend anyone could ask for.

Marilyn passed away unexpectedly after an accident on Saturday, July 15, 2017. She is survived by her husband of thirty-nine years, Kevin Weedman, of Alexandria; Son, Eric, wife Jessica Julig-Weedman and their two children, Lincoln and McKinley Weedman of Winnebago; brother, John Polfliet and wife Karen of Hector; sister, Carol Weedman and husband, Kenneth of Amiret, Mary Otto and husband Jerry of Alexandria, Margaret Olafson and husband, Dave of Marshall; many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her infant daughter Lori; and her parents, Ed and Martha Polfliet.
