Marion Poltiske

Marion K. Poltiske, age 77, of Brandon, Minnesota, peacefully passed away at Lake Region Hospital on Tuesday, October 12, 2010. Marion was born on November 27, 1932 to John and Barbara Schecher in Brandon Township. Marion attended school in Brandon, Minnesota. She helped her parents on their family farm and also helped with the family business, Schecher's Resort. On June 5, 1950, Marion married Tony Poltiske at St Ann's Catholic Church in Brandon. The couple farmed in Leaf Valley Township for 5 years before moving near Brandon in 1955. In 1978, they move into Brandon until Tony's death February 2004. Marion was a homemaker and also cleaned houses for local families for many years. She was very active in her Church and was a member of the Christian Mothers. She was also a member of the Millerville Legion Auxilliary for over 50 years. Marion had many interests. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, sewing, crocheting and spending time with her family and friends. She loved being outside, tending to her garden and flowers. Most Sundays you would find her family visiting around her kitchen table enjoying all the delicious foods she had made! Marion is survived by her two children: Kathy (Howard) Jacobson of Evansville, MN and Richard Poltiske of Brandon, MN; brothers: Jack (Norma) Schecher of Des Moines, IA and Gene (Cindy) Schecher of San Diego, CA ; sisters -in-law: Ruth (Pete) Schecher of Fillmore, Utah and Flavian (Floyd) Schecher of Evansville, MN ;brothers -in-law: Roy Poltiske and Walter (Vi) Poltiske both of Minneapolis, MN; four grandchildren; Ann (James) Lewis of Dalton,MN, Deanna (Jamie) Williams of Erdahl,MN , Susan(Mike) Woessner of Elbow Lake,MN and Jamie Paulzine also of Elbow Lake, MN; five great grandchildren: Gunnar Lewis, Desiree and Xavier Williams and Grace and Lindsey Woessner; aunts, uncles and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Tony, parents, John and Barbara Schecher and brothers: Pete and Floyd Schecher. Christian Mothers Rosary was held on Sunday, October 17, 2010, 6:00 p.m. at St. Ann?s Catholic Church with a Parish Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, October 18, 2010, 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann?s Catholic Church with Rev. Andy Marthaler officiating. Pallbearers were Lloyd Schecher, Donald Schecher, Norman Freske, Lester Freske, Lawrence Fyhrie, Leonard Fyhrie. Burial was at St. Ann?s Cemetery in Brandon.
