Marion Zaviska

Marion Clara (Linster) Zaviska was born on July 29, 1917 in Millerville, MN to John and Caroline (Kott) Linster. She attended parochial school in Millerville through the eighth grade. Marion then worked for families in Alexandria as a housekeeper. On June 25, 1940 Marion was united in marriage to Charles Edward Zaviska at the Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Millerville. To this union the couple was blessed with four daughters. The couple first lived in Forada at the Parish house. Then after a year they moved to Maple Lake where Marion was housewife. Marion lived on the north shore of Maple Lake for 66 years and was Auntie Marion to Dennis and Mickey Zaviska and their children. She moved into Bethany Home in 2008. Marion enjoyed vegetable gardening, planting flowers, doing yard work, feeding the birds, cleaning fish for fish fry?s, listening to music, playing cards especially whist and spite and malice. She was a member of the homemakers club, church circles, Forada Birthday Club and Senior Citizens. Marion died on Thursday, July 30, 2009 at Bethany Home in Alexandria at the age of 92. She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn (Daniel) Koupa of Detroit Lakes, Diane Bristlin of Detroit Lakes, Jalaine (Palmer Jr.) Bergner of Alexandria, and Charlene (Mike) Walker of Alexandria; 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild; sister, Lorraine (Ben) Mrnak of Alexandria; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Marion was preceded in death by her parents, John and Caroline; husband, Charles; brothers, Raymond and Al; and sister, Theresa. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Alexandria with Reverend Steve Binsfeld officiating. Interment was held in the St. Mary?s Catholic Cemetery in Alexandria. Casket bearers were Marion?s grandchildren, Mike Kroupa, David Kroupa, Robert Kroupa, Dawn Utke, Julie Wilke, Raquel O?Brien, Alicia Redkkedahl, Jeff Bergner, Scott Bergner, Paula Bergner, Shelly Nelson, Dan Walker, Amanda Walker, Cody Walker and Vance Walker. Honorary casket bearers were Dennis and Mickey Zaviska. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. www.andersonfuneral.net
