Marjorie was born October 15, 1932 in Grant County, SD, to Paul and Clara (Mongold) Rademacher. She attended St. Joseph Catholic school in Rosen, Minnesota and graduated in 1946. She met Gordon at Club 7-75 and was married on July 1st, 1957 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rosen, MN. They were blessed with three children, Terry, Gerry, and Julie. They lived on a farm bordering the Minnesota River which became part of what is now known as the Big Stone Wildlife Refuge. The family moved to Ortonville in 1972 where they raised their children. Marjorie was a homemaker and handywoman. Some of her many talents included being a mother, a farm wife, house cleaner and painter, hanging wallpaper, refinishing furniture, serving on church circles and being the family support giver.
She and Gordon enjoyed their retirement, taking several trips traveling over most of the United States and Canada. She also loved to read, garden, put puzzles together, crafts, and playing cards, with her favorite game being Scrabble. Her biggest joy was her grandchildren and spending time with them as they grew. She and Gordon were blessed to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on July 1st, 2007 with the whole family on the Minnesota Zephyr in Stillwater.
After Marge’s husband, Gordon, passed away in 2007, she sold her home in Ortonville and moved to Arabella Manor in Alexandria, which opened up a new and exciting chapter in her life. She made many dear friends in the 8 years she lived there, learned new card games and a domino game called Mexican Train. She then moved to Edgewood Vista where she lived for 3 years under the care of an amazing staff that loved her and treated her like she was family. Heartfelt thanks are also extended to the ER and 2nd floor staff at Alomere Health for the care they have given Marge. We will forever be grateful to each and every one of them. Finally, a special thank you to Dianna Roers of Hair A’La More Salon for her companionship and support in bringing Marge to her hair appointments.
On Tuesday, May 21, at the age of 86, Marge passed away at the Edgewood Vista Assisted Living facility. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon; parents, Paul & Clara Rademacher, and brother, Sylvester.
She is survived by children, Terry (Lindy) Dawald of Alexandria, MN, Gerry (Nancy) Dawald of Nashville, TN, Julie (Marlo) Churness of Big lake, MN; grandchildren, Cyrese Kragenbring, Jake Erickson, Kelly (Jesse) Folk, Alex (Allison) Dawald, Courtney (Kyle) Giese, Kim Churness, and Sara (Matt) Krogh; and 12 great-grandchildren.
