Marjorie Ann Miller, 90, of Alexandria passed away on February 3, 2018, at Knute Nelson Nursing Home under hospice care with her son Dave at her side. Marj, the oldest of three girls, was born on March 12, 1927, in Delhi Township to Hubert and Bernice Bunting. She attended high school in Redwood Falls and graduated in 1945.
She married her childhood sweetheart, Robert Miller, on September 7, 1947, at the Presbyterian Church in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. They enjoyed 47 years of marriage together until Bob’s death in 1994. They lived in Delhi, Redwood Falls, Ortonville, and in 1989 moved to their dream home on Lake Carlos.
Besides raising three sons and a daughter, Marj was very proud to have had a successful career outside the home. She was the Postmaster in Delhi, worked as a receptionist and secretary in Ortonville and Redwood Falls and retired in 1989 after ten years as the owner of Miller’s Jewelry and Gifts.
She had a quick wit and a sharp mind and enjoyed nothing more than winning an argument. She loved to entertain and play cards. She was a talented quilter and made exquisite doll clothes. She will be dearly missed by everyone who was fortunate to meet her.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Knute Nelson Hospice or Shalom Lutheran Church are preferred.
Marj is survived by her sons, Tom Miller (Brenda), Dave Miller (Pam), Dan Miller (Vicky); daughter, Diann Boonstra (Tim); grandchildren, Joe and Andy Miller (Tom); Steve and Rob Miller (Dave); Ekaterina and Svetlana Miller (Dan); Shawn Boonstra (Diann); step-grandson and wife, Dan and Jamie Zielke (Dan); sister Mary Lou Hansen; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bob Miller; sister, Dorothy Miller; and grandson John Miller.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 11 AM at Shalom Lutheran Church.
A visitation will take place for one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
Interment will be in Carlos Prairie Cemetery.
