OBITUARY
Mark Steven Hyatt was born on March 1, 1969 in Alexandria, MN, the son of Henry and Mary Louise (Dickopf) Hyatt. Mark grew up in the Morris, MN area, and graduated from high school in Cyrus, MN (1987). He attended the Willmar Vo-Tech College for two years.
In the early ’90s, Mark moved to Minneapolis, MN. His sister, Dawn, joined him in Minneapolis after she graduated from college. They lived together in Minneapolis for four years. Dawn was amazed at Mark’s handyman skills, calling him “MarkGyver”. He could fix anything! While in Minneapolis, Mark worked for several companies as a Data Analyst.
Mark was a talented musician, playing keyboard and guitar for several Minneapolis rock bands in the ’90s. He loved listening to rock, industrial and alternative music. In high school, Mark was a drummer in the school band. He also enjoyed playing on the high school baseball and basketball teams, and participating in track. Mark had a lot of talent in art as well, always sketching and painting.
Mark had an excellent sense of humor, and was full of good-natured mischief (such a jokester!). He had a gentle heart, and loved animals of all kinds. Mark was a wonderful “Cat Papa” to two sweet kitties, Booties and LeRange. He loved his family, and enjoyed hanging out with them whenever he could. He was especially close to his younger sisters, Dawn and Lori. In fact, they considered themselves “The Three Musketeers” growing up. (“All for one and one for all, united we stand divided we fall.”)
On Wednesday, May 4, 2016, Mark passed away at the age of forty-seven years. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Louise (Dickopf) Hyatt. Mark is survived by his father, Henry Hyatt and wife, Arlou, of Alexandria, MN; his significant other, Theresa Andrus of Minneapolis, MN; his grandmother, Evelyn Graff and husband, Dale, of Alexandria, MN; three brothers, Jeff Hyatt of Cyrus, MN, Todd Hyatt and wife, Wendy, of Farwell, MN and Curt Hyatt and significant other, Michelle Huemoeller, of Hoffman, MN; three sisters, Lynn Bright and husband, Richard, of Morris, MN, Lori Hyatt of Alexandria, MN and Dawn Tessman Visser of Manitou Springs, CO; half-brother, Scott Damsgard of St. Paul, MN; nine nieces and nephews, Jolene Bright, Wesley Bright, Jon Bright, Aaron Bright, Alexander (A.J.) Hyatt, Heather Hyatt, Caitlin Smith, Cara Smith, and Andrew Visser; his friend, Don (Bud) Frascone of St. Paul, MN; and his friend, John Visser of Minneapolis, MN.
Mark was an intelligent, sweet soul, and he will be greatly missed.
