Marlene Lund

October 28, 1937 — December 30, 2020

Brandon

Marlene Louise (Navratil) Lund was born on October 28, 1937, to Louis and Barbara Navratil in Alexandria, MN.  Marlene graduated from Alexandria High School in 1955 and then attended nursing school.  She graduated in 1958 as a registered nurse from St. Barnabas School of Nursing.

Marlene was united in marriage to Eldred “Bill” Lund on September 27, 1958, in Alexandria.  To this union six children were born: Kathy, Kristi, Larry, Nancy, Naomi and Marcy.

Marlene enjoyed quilting.  She made a quilt for every grandchild when they graduated, as well as when they got married.  Marlene had beautiful flowers in her landscape gardens and around her home. Throughout her whole life she also worked in her vegetable gardens.  With her fruits and vegetables, she taught many of us how to can the produce.  Marlene loved to feed the family and had a great talent of baking and cooking.  Some of her favorite foods to make that we all loved were donuts, lefse, pistachio dessert, and rush city bars.  Bill and Marlene started the tradition of camping with family. The annual camping trip to Tipsinah Campground holds many memories that we will always remember.  Marlene was known to be out late at the racetrack watching her son and her grandchildren.  Over the years Marlene spent many hours attending and cheering on her children and her grandchildren at sporting events. The most important thing to Marlene was spending time with her family.  Marlene was a long-time member of Grace Lutheran Church and was active in many areas of the church including her talent of making mission quilts for many years. Her strong faith sustained her throughout her life.

The Lord prepared a place for Marlene Lund in heaven on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at the age of 83, where her eternal home will be.  Marlene is survived by six children and 25 grandchildren.  Kathy (Paul) Boeddeker; Susan (Leon) Ziegler, Craig (Shawnee), Janet (Justin) Engelhart, Linda (Rick) Jesnowski, Laura (Dan) Nelson, Karen (Adam) Wirtjes.  Kristi (Kerry) Froemming; Trent (Stephanie), Darrin (Rebecca), Tanya (Joey) Pierson.  Larry (Mary Kay) Lund; Maria (Darrin) Braaten, William (Haley), Michael, Nathan, Michelle (Mason Hutt – fiancé).
