Marlene Kay Mohrman was born March 10, 1944, in Benson, Minnesota to Robert and Bernice (Neuhaus) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Redeemer?s Lutheran Church in Danvers, MN. Marlene attended and graduated from Benson High School in 1962. After high school Marlene moved to Minneapolis, MN where she worked as a secretary for Mutual Insurance. It was during this time that she met the love of life Roger Mohrman. They were united in marriage on April 23, 1966 at St. Mark?s Lutheran Church in Benson, MN. To this union the couple was blessed with three children. They continued to live in Minneapolis, MN for five years before they moved to Morris, MN where they lived for 35 years. While in Morris she had a variety of different jobs. Marlene ran her own daycare, worked as a secretary at Lampart?s Lumberyard and found her passion in floral design at Creative Touch Floral and worked at Thrifty White Pharmacy. The couple moved to Alexandria, MN in June of 2005 and she transferred to the Thrifty White Alexandria Pharmacy where she worked until her health declined. Marlene loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and daycare kids. She enjoyed the kid?s activities including: their games and dance recitals. Marlene enjoyed pontoon rides on the chain of lakes, shopping, going to the casino with friends and playing penny slots, camping at Hobo Park in Starbuck where they met many friends. She was an avid supporter and loved going to the Relay for Life. Marlene died on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at her home at the age of 69. Marlene is survived by her husband of 46 years, Roger Mohrman; children, Lisa Holman of Fargo, ND, Stacy (Brian) Gibson of Alexandria, and Ryan Mohrman of Alexandria; grandchildren, Cody, Quinn and McKenna Gibson of Alexandria; siblings; Nancy (Bob) Kellner of Benson, Chuck (Sue) Johnson of Benson, Carrie (Tim) Hughes of Danvers, and recently found and greatly loved half siblings, Jim (Jean) Hilleren of Benson, Kathy (John) Stammer of Starbuck, and Barb (Terri) Hilleren of Golden Valley; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Marlene is preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Bernice Johnson. A funeral service was held on Monday, July 29, 2013 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Alexandria with Reverend Hans Dahl officiating. Music was provided by organist, Amy Engel and soloist, Scott Janssen accompanied by Kelly Albrecht. Inurnment was held in Geneva Cemetery in Alexandria. Casket bearers were Kevin Loge, Ken Payne, Jim Overland, Mark Wagner, Carlyle Boettcher, and Bob Loher. Honorary casket bearers were Marlene?s grandchildren and all of the daycare kids that called her Grandma Marlene. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria
