Marlene Porter

June 25, 1932 — January 22, 2020

Alexandria

Marlene Jonette (Anderson) Porter was born on June 25, 1932, in Carlos Township, Douglas County, Minnesota to Arthur and Leona (Rassat) Anderson.  She attended Central School in Alexandria.  She worked as a waitress at her father’s café called the Maid-Rite Coffee Shop with her brother, Arthur Jr.  Marlene then later worked at Travelers Inn.

Marlene was blessed with a daughter, Sue Ann and worked as a homemaker.  She lived with her parents and was their caregiver until their passing.  Marlene loved children and when her granddaughters were born, she enjoyed watching and being with them as much as possible.

Marlene loved shopping and stopping at Kentucky Fried Chicken afterwards.  She was very proud of her beautiful flower gardens and enjoyed sewing, making hair bows for her granddaughters and great nieces and doll clothes.  Marlene enjoyed reading, completing word finds and watching her daytime soap operas on tv.  She loved her savior and found comfort reading her devotionals and in her prayers.

Marlene was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

Marlene died on Wednesday, January 22, 2020, at Alomere Health in Alexandria at the age of 87.  She is survived by her daughter, Sue Ann (Allen) Klimek of Alexandria; granddaughters, Melissa (Jason) Mathews of Osakis and Jessica (Paul) Norling of Alexandria; great-grandchildren, Philip (Kayla Sorenson) Mathews, Cora Mathews, KayLee (Dylan Brecht) Nieland, and Gracie Norling; sister-in-law, Gloria Anderson; and many nieces and nephews.  Marlene is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Leona; sister, Lorraine Porter; brother, Arthur Jr; brother-in-law, Roy Porter; and nephew, Terry Porter.
