Marvin Leslie Edblom was born on November 9, 1934 to Sigfrid and Ethna (Edman) Edblom on the family farm in rural Beresford, SD. He was dedicated and confirmed at Brooklyn Evangelical Church. Marvin attended country school and later graduated from Beresford High School.
On June 29, 1951, Marvin was united in marriage to Roxanne June Hinkle. As the couple was starting their family, Marvin worked with his dad on the family farm. In 1961 the family moved to rural Alberta, MN. Marvin began farming his own land as well as working at GTA Elevator in Morris, MN. Roxanne passed away on February 29, 1984.
Marvin started his own business, Runestone Aggregate, and subcontracted with Central Specialties until he was 82 years old. He married LaVerne Hagstrom on May 27, 1987.
Marvin was a hard worker who loved working with his hands whether it was on the job or tinkering around at home. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt. Marvin also liked to play cards and had a special knack for pool. He enjoyed his many winters down in Yuma, AZ with LaVerne. Marvin was a long-time member of Nora Lutheran Church and was recently baptized at his home in Alexandria.
Marvin Edblom died on Thursday, August 26, 2021 in Alexandria, MN at the age of 86 years. He is survived by his wife: LaVerne; three children: David (Pam) Edblom, Susan (Dan) Jost, and Donald (Linda) Edblom; four step-children: Paul Hagstrom, Cynthia (Matt) Revering, Sheila (Gary) Magnuson, and Nancy (Bryan) Anderson; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; and his sister: Emolyn Rollin. Marvin is preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Roxanne; his step-son: Mark Hagstrom; his grandson: Matt Edblom; and his brother-in-law: Bill Rollin.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, 1:00 p.m. at Nora Lutheran Church in Kensington, MN with visitation one-hour prior to the service at the church. This service will be live-streamed and recorded for family and friends to view from Marvin’s obituary page on the Anderson Funeral Home website at 1 PM on Wednesday. Burial will be at Nora Lutheran Cemetery in Kensington, MN. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home and Crematory. www.andersonfuneral.net
