Marvin Henry Roers was born on September 2, 1927, in Leaf Valley Township the daughter of George and Johanna (Botzet) Roers. He graduated from Alexandria High School and furthered his education at Dunwoody Institute. Marvin proudly served his country in the United States Navy and was Honorably Discharged on December 1, 1947. Marvin married Odilia Thoennes and to this union seven children were born. Marvin worked for World Aerospace in the Twin Cities for over twenty-five years and upon moving to Alexandria he worked for Douglas Machines. Marvin will be remembered as a family man who always put others first. He loved his children, and grandchildren who have a lot of fun memories especially at the cabin on Lake Miltona so the family would have a place to gather and be together. He was a member of the Loretto Fire Department, Lions and the American Legion and VFW. He remained very active in the Honor Guard for the VFW until his death. Marvin died on Sunday, December 23, 2012 called by his Lord to celebrate Christmas in Heaven this year. He is survived by his children: George (Sue), Jeffrey (Judy), Gregory, Peter (Lynn), Paul (Jean), Marvelle (Ed) Weispfennig; sixteen loving grandchildren, two great grandchildren, sister: Lucille Seiler, brother, Donavon Roers; many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Florinda Roers; infant son, Larry Roers; parents George & Johanna Roers. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, December 29, 2012, 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Alexandria. Burial was at St. Nicholas Cemetery in Belle River. Pallbearers were his grandsons: Matt Roers, Mike Roers, Aaron Roers, Callen Weispfennig, Brady Weispfennig, Patrick Roers, Kevin Roers, Nick Roers.
