Mary Andersen

May 15, 1942 — May 9, 2010

Our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Mary Louise Andersen, a lifelong resident of Alexandria died on Sunday, May 9, 2010 at Bethany Home surrounded by family at the age of sixty-seven years from complications with leukemia. Mary Louise (Loseth) Andersen was born May 15, 1942 in Alexandria to Ferne (Paulus) and Orville Loseth. She was the third of four children. In 1961 she went to cosmetology school in Fergus Falls, MN and obtained her managers license. On June 14, 1969 she married William Fredrick Andersen of Wayzata, MN. They had two daughters, JoAnn and Joy. Mary worked as a hairdresser for over 30 years, a job she loved. Upon retiring Mary spent her time doing volunteer work for the Alexandria Senior Companion program, she always had the time to do some good for others. Mary had a strong faith and enjoyed singing in the church choir. When diagnosed with cancer for the second time she said, "The Lord will never give me more than I can handle, but I don't know why he thinks I can handle so much." She was blessed with the gift of writing poetry and many of her poems were inspired by her strong faith and her relationship with the Lord. Anyone who knew Mary knew how much she enjoyed telling jokes and silly stories; she had a wonderful sense of humor. In her free time she loved playing bingo and helping others play bingo. She enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins play baseball. Mary liked fishing, traveling, and taking bus trips with her friends. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards and Yahtzee. More than anything Mary was a kind, sweet, wife, mother, and grandmother who was dearly loved by all who knew her and will be sadly missed. Mary is survived by her husband William Fredrick Andersen; her two daughters, JoAnn Teska (Jody) of Kimball, MN and Joy Andersen (Brady) of Alexandria, MN; her granddaughter, Jaxon Andersen Teska of Kimball, MN; brother, Bill Loseth (Sandi) of Fort Worth, TX; sister Susan Schmidt (Sylvester) of Alexandria, MN, and brother John Loseth of Delhi, NY. Her mother, Ferne Loseth and her father, Orville Loseth, preceded Mary in death. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Reverend John Peshek will officiate. Randy Morken and Jody Sundlee will provide music. Interment will follow in the Kinkead Cemetery in Alexandria.
