Mary Ann (Zitzmann) Jacoby was born at home in Wanda, MN to John and Genevieve Zitzmann on September 6, 1938. She attended school in Wanda, MN. She was united in marriage to Joseph Jacoby on August 8, 1956 in Springfield MN. To this union 5 children were born.
Mary returned to school at Willmar Technical College once all the children were in school and received her LPN degree. She began her nursing career in Benson, MN at the hospital. She continued to work in the nursing field until her retirement from Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria, MN. During her retirement, Mary kept busy helping her daughter maintain a resort. After that she tended to the apartment complex where she and Joe lived in addition to helping many neighbors and friends out when needed.
Throughout her life, Mary enjoyed playing organ for many years at St Olaf Catholic Church in Elbow Lake in addition to being a member of the Douglas County Posse Assoc., and she was an integral part of Jacoby Auctioneering in which she and her husband enjoyed and made a family affair.
Mary spent many hours creating beautiful crocheted pictures for her family in addition to many beaded Christmas ornaments. Both crafts she truly enjoyed. Mary, Mom, Grandma Myrna was always there to answer a multitude of questions any time of the day.
Mary Ann Jacoby passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2022, at Evansville Care Center at the age of 83. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Jacoby; parents, John and Genevieve Zitzmann; brother, John Zitzmann; sister, JoAnn Kaduck; grandson, Beau Jacoby; son-in-law, Mike Dahle; and daughter, Kay Hultman Jacoby.
Mary is survived by her children; Kevin (Becky) Jacoby of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Karen (Kip) Martin of Alexandria, Keith Jacoby of Grovetown, Indiana, and Kirk (JoAnn) Jacoby of Elbow Lake; grandchildren, Janel (Chris) Etzel, Drew (Amy) Jacoby, Nicole (Scott) Rindahl, Alicia (Tom) Craig, Leanna (fiancé, Eric Newman) Jacoby, Keith (Timika) Jacoby, Matt (Kelsey) Jacoby, Nicholas (fiancé Hayley Jorud) Jacoby, Darcel (Kara) Danzeisen, and Teran (Dianna) Danzeisen; great grandchildren, Braden Bahr, Logan and Kaladin Craig, Delaney Jacoby, Kirk Jacoby, Joe and James Danzeisen, TJ, Ronan and Layna Danzeisen; in addition to extended family, Lily and Mason, Hannah and Christian, Caleb, Lillybell, Alex and Ivy.
A private family graveside service will be held.
