Mary was born on June 16, 1928 in Dickinson, North Dakota, the daughter of Anton and Rosie (Sadowsky) Volesky. She was raised on a farm northwest of Dickinson and attended New Hradec School. Mary was wed to Laudie F. Karsky on June 4, 1947, at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in New Hradec, North Dakota. To this blessed couple nine children were born. Mary and Laudie farmed until 1953 near New Hradec and then moved into Dickinson where they owned and operated Carter Oil Bulk Station. They moved their family to a farm near Clinton, Minnesota, the spring of 1962. Mary?s priorities were her Faith, Family and Friends and always in that order!! She loved to cook, garden, dance, sew, quilt, embroider, crochet and do laundry. (She was still concerned a week ago Monday that she hadn?t done laundry in awhile!) Her family meant everything to her and she was always telling everyone how proud she was of each one. Her grandchildren were very important to her. They all loved eating Grandma?s food and playing ?Hand & Foot? with her! In recent years her great-grandchildren brought her much joy. Mary & Laudie moved to Alexandria in the Spring of 1986. Mary still kept quite busy with her hobbies, volunteering at the hospital, doing in-home visits, working as a cook at the local schools, cleaning homes for others and leading the rosary at daily mass.
