Mary Lund age 86 of Alexandria died on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Bethany Home in Alexandria. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at 12 Noon at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Alexandria. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 from 2-5PM at the Anderson Funeral Home and also for one hour prior to the service at the chapel on Thursday. Interment will be in the Nelson Cemetery.
OBITUARY
Mary Lynn Lund, the daughter of Emil and Luella (Erickson) Ostrom, was born May 13, 1929 in Redwood Falls. She graduated from Winthrop High School and attended nursing school in the cities. Mary and Ray Lund were united in marriage in Charles City, Iowa on May 14, 1953 and made their home in Alexandria. Mary worked at Herbergers for a few years and then as a CNA at Bethany Nursing Home in Alexandria. After she retired she volunteered at the coffee shop. Mary also volunteered as a senior companion up until the age of 84, visiting with other seniors and helping them with their local errands.
Mary loved gardening and volunteering. She enjoyed spending her time being active and visiting with friends and family. Mary was a wonderful seamstress and sewed clothes for all of her nieces and nephews. Mary was a hip, tough old broad with a strong personality. She kept a realistic attitude and had a forgiving heart. Mary was a very loving, kind, and servant oriented woman. She was always independent minded and was known to take everything in stride.
Mary died Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Bethany Home in Alexandria at the age of 86. She is survived by her sister, Janice (Rolland) Rasmussen of Tryon NC; numerous nieces & nephews; and sister-in-laws, Mable Peterson & Vangi Lund. She is preceded in death by parents, Emil and Luella Ostrom; husband, Ray Lund; and sister, Helen Berger.
Funeral Service was Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Anderson Funeral Home followed by interment at Nelson Cemetery.
Memorials are preferred to Fahlun Lutheran Church.
