Mary was born on November 2, 1910, the daughter of Theodore and Selma (Mattson) Salto in La Grande Township. She was baptized and confirmed at East Moe Lutheran Church. Mary attended country school in Districts #47 and 88. After her schooling she worked at the Alexandria Hotel and also for area families doing childcare and domestic chores. In November of 1938, Norma and Norman (?The Twins?) were born. Mary loved her family and her life. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and gardening. In 1991, she moved into the Bethal Manor apartments. She enjoyed playing cards, having coffee at the coffee shop and ?girls day out Fridays?, which was hair do?s, lunch, and shopping. For the past three years, Mary resided at Sharon?s Senior Care facility, where she kept busy crocheting doilies for her family and friends. She also liked to play Bingo and her girls day out. She was always game for a Sunday afternoon ride, which would consist of a stop at McDonalds for burgers and Mary?s Apple Pie along with short visits with family and friends. Mary?s family and friends will remember her for her ?Get it Done? attitude, good sense of humor and her kindness to everyone. We thank her for all she taught us and the joy she brought to our lives.
