Mary Schouweiler

Mary Louise (Marusak) Schouweiler, age 86, died May 3, 2022 at home surrounded by her family.

Mary was born in rural Alexandria, MN by Lake Victoria on March 27, 1936, to Wencil and Mary (Zavadil) Marusak.  She was the third of four children.  She attended Country School District 9 and graduated from Central High School in 1954.  She was a long time member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church.

Mary wed George Schouweiler in April of 1956.  They lived briefly in Minneapolis then spent five years in Iowa before returning to the Minneapolis area.  They spent another five years in Minneapolis before returning to Douglas County. Mary spent the majority of her life raising her family and considered herself a Domestic Engineer.

Mary enjoyed baking -- especially kolachies.  She also enjoyed her flowers, gardening, embroidering, knitting hats for donations and helping her husband George with the hobby farm. Collecting chickens and being the chicken grandma was her favorite past-time.

She is survived by her four children, daughter Mary Ann of Waite Park, son Brian of Blaine, son Mark wife, Joleen of Alexandria; daughter, Barbara and friend, Pat of St. Cloud; ten grandchildren that include Jacob, Mary Kay, Scott, Tonia, Tara, Jake, Elizabeth, Patrick, Molly and Jack; several great grandchildren.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband, George, her parents, and one infant son Michael; son-in-law, Dan; daughter-in-law, Sandi; brothers: Joseph, Frank and sister, Marlene.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022, 12:00 PM at Anderson Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service.  Inurnment will be at the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
