Maryann Cecilia Rollie was born on May 15, 1948 in Long Beach CA, the daughter of Nicholas and Mary (Bessone) Grimaldi. She graduated from St. Anthony?s High School in Long Beach, CA and furthered her education by receiving degrees in Sociology and Psychology. Maryann moved to Minnesota in 1974 and began her career in social work with Douglas County. She soon became a chemical dependency counselor and eventually became the director of the Mental Health Department of Douglas County. Maryann?s love of people, her compassionate manner and her dedication to her work allowed her to help many people throughout her career. She was very politically active in the Democratic Party and always enjoyed a good debate. Maryann loved her family and cherished her many ?road trips? across the county with her children. She lived for antiques and eating good food. She planned many trips around antiquing and good places to eat. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her. Maryann C. Rollie died on Friday, February 15, 2008 at her home with her family and friends by her side. She is survived by her sons Nicholas (Gina) Rollie of Truckee, CA; CPT. Beau (Susan) Rollie of Germany; daughter Jennifer (Chris) Hagen of Little Falls, MN; grandchildren Aidan and Ashley Hagen of Little Falls, MN; sister Nancy (Peter) Wright of Whitewater, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday evening at St. Mary?s Catholic Church with the Reverend Steve Binsfeld officiating. Laurie Youngers was the pianist and Jane Herth was the soloist. Dr. Susan Meland gave the eulogy. Interment was in the St. Mary?s Catholic Cemetery. Casket Bearers were Capt. Beau Rollie, Nick Rollie, Peter Wright, Pete Wright, Paul Teeuwen, and Chris Hagen. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
