Bakken, Melba Melba Arlene Bakken was born on September 21, 1931, the daughter of Henry and Alice Torkelson of Henning, MN. In 1949 she married Ted Bakken and relocated to Alexandria. Melba supported Ted in his music business and together raised a family of four children: Diane, Gary, John and Stacy. Melba loved life surrounding herself with family and friends while enjoying interacting with everyone she came in contact with. She kept a beautiful home and was a wonderful cook. Caramel rolls and homemade jelly are a couple of favorites that quickly come to mind. Other interests were her flowers, birds, playing cards, travel and especially the family vacations when everyone got together. Melba was an active member of the First Lutheran Church. Melba passed away Saturday June 29, 2013 . She is survived by her children: Diane (Greg) Hanson of Dayton, OH; Gary Bakken of Powell, WY; John Bakken of Champlin, MN and Stacy (Steve) Pasch of Alexandria, MN. Grandchildren: Debra (Doug) Campbell, Troy (Pilar) Hanson, Jess and Jake Bakken. Great Grandchildren: Ethan, Seth, & Luke Campbell and Alexandra & Natalie Hanson. Sisters: Althea (Ernie) Deckert and Charlotte Deckert and many nieces and nephews. Private Family Interment @ Kinkead Cemetery, Alexandria, Minnesota Officiant: Reverend Kari van Wakeren, First Lutheran Church Melba was a true blessing with a generous and forgiving personality.
