Michael Alan Haabala, the son of Duane and Melody (Schneiderr) Haabala, was born on February 14, 1976, in Alexandria, Minnesota. Mike was baptized at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and confirmed at West Moe Lutheran Church. He graduated from Brandon High School in 1994 and then served with the Minnesota National Guard. Mike met the love of his life, Julia Oberg. They were united in marriage on May 30, 1998 at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Together they raised four children, Auston, Zackery, Eric, and Emma.
Mike worked at RPI, Hilltop Lumber, and Garfield Lumber. He also worked for Douglas Machine and with various farmers around the area. Mike loved tractors and was known to get them stuck occasionally. He liked to read comic books, watch action movies, and was a big Marvel fan. Mike was a true friend and without question, he would help a buddy out. He enjoyed the outdoors and liked to draw and doodle on paper. He loved his family dearly and will be missed by all who knew him.
Michael A. Haabala, died on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at his home while sleeping, at the age of 45 years old. He is survived by his loving wife, Julia Haabala of Farwell; children, Eric Haabala of Farwell, Emma Haabala of Farwell, Auston Hansen of Hoffman, and Zackery (Julia) Hansen of CT; parents, Duane and Melody Haabala of Farwell; brother, Joel Haabala of Farwell, sister, Jennifer (Quang) Ngyen of West Fargo; aunts, and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his son, Sawyer Haabala, both of his grandparents, and his uncle Doug Schneider.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 26, 2021 at 1 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Michael Peterson officiating.
The Funeral Service will be live streamed on Michael's obituary page on the Anderson Funeral Home website.
A public visitation will take place for one hour prior to the funeral service at the Anderson Funeral Home on Monday.
Interment will be in Moe Heights Cemetery in Moe Township, MN.
