Michael Stanley Hagedorn was born June 3, 1959, in Alexandria, Minnesota, to Stanley and Marjorie (Steidl) Hagedorn, he grew up in Spring Valley, Minnesota, where he graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1977.
He attended Rochester Area Vocational Technical Institute, where he studied electronics technology. He went on to earn bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. He spent his career in research and development design, electronics service technology, and independent design consultation. Most recently, he was an instructor with Veterans Assembled Electronics in Orlando, training transitioning soldiers and service disabled veterans for careers as electronics technicians.
Mike’s interest in electronics spanned his lifetime; he had an oscilloscope for the sole purpose of owning one, and operated a ham radio. Mike also was musically inclined — singing anywhere he pleased or playing a variety of instruments, including a hand-made dulcimer. Mike was happiest when spending time with his family and many close friends.
He was an active parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Orlando, where he taught Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, was a Eucharistic minister, and led and participated in Bible studies.
