OBITUARY
Michael Allen Paradee was born on March 12, 1955 in Springfield, MN, the son of Donald and MaryAnn (Bishop) Paradee. By the time he was six, the family had settled in the New London/Spicer area. He wrestled and played football for New London Spicer High School, graduating in 1973. Mike met Janine Olson at Willmar Community College. They were united in marriage on April 24, 1976 in Brandon, MN. Seven children were born to this union: Amanda, Ashley, Bethany, Levi, Samuel, Marilla, and Noah. Mike served in the United States Navy on the USS Vulcan stationed in Norfolk, VA from 1977-1981.
After Mike’s time in the Navy he studied to receive his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from St. Cloud State University, graduating in 1983. Following college, Mike and his family moved to the Virginia Beach, VA area for several years. He received his CPA license and worked in the accounting field. Mike and his family moved to Osakis in 1994 to open his own accounting firm in Alexandria.
Mike loved visiting with his clients and especially tax season; but most of all, Mike loved his family. He will be remembered for watching the boys play baseball, going to Viking games, and time spent on family camping trips. He spent many mornings out golfing with the kids and taught all of them to play cribbage. He played hide & seek in the “dark basement” and was known to spend time at the McDonalds play area watching and playing with his children and grandchildren. He went to all the church softball games to watch his kids play and always brought a bag full of Gatorade, sunflower seeds and red licorice.
Mike enjoyed spending time with his five siblings and their families talking about the funny stories and memories of when they were young. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
