Michele Chermak

Michele Marie (Novak) Chermak, age 51, of Alexandria passed away unexpectedly at Alomere Health on Monday, November 1, 2021.

Michele was born on October 26, 1970 in Alexandria, MN to James and Luverlle (Brown) Novak. She attended grade school in Villard and later moved to Alexandria where she graduated early from Jefferson High School. Michele continued her education online and earned her AA degree in Psychology. Michele met the love of her life, Lowell, at a Sunday softball game in Forada, MN. The couple was united in marriage in 1988 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alexandria. They moved out to the family farm where they started their own family and continued farming. Michele took care of their 3 boys: Kirby, Derek, and Casey at home until they started school. She then entered the business world where she started her career in banking for over 25 years.

Michele loved spending time with her family especially around the holidays, at the annual Novak golf tournament, her sons’ birthday casino trip, or just a summer day at the lake on the pontoon. She will always be remembered for her huge heart and willingness to welcome any children who needed a loving home.

In her spare time, Michele enjoyed volleyball, softball, golf, and watching her kids play ball at the Nelson field. She also doted on her dog: Tubber and cat: Fez.

Michele is survived by her husband: Lowell Chermak; sons: Kirby (Jenni), Derek, and Casey (Kelsey Nagengast) Chermak; brothers: Jeff (Shannon) and Scott (Kim) Novak; sisters: Annette (Stan) Brewer, Laura (Paul Gagnon) Novak, Kim (Joe) Blake, and Jennifer (Kevin) Lillis; her mother: Luverlle Novak; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. She is preceded in death by her father: James Novak; nephew: Andrew Nelson; and father-in-law: Arthur Chermak.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alexandria, MN. Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Monday, November 8, 2021, at Anderson Funeral Home. This service will be live-streamed and recorded for family and friends to view from Michele’s obituary page on the Anderson Funeral Home website at 11:00 AM on Tuesday. Burial will be at St. John Nepomuk Cemetery in Reno Township, MN.

In lieu of flowers, memorial are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
