Mildred "Millie" Elaine Christopherson

Mildred "Millie" Elaine Christopherson passed away peacefully at Edgewood Memory Care on Saturday January 11th, 2025 at the age of 95 years. Millie was born to Lawrence and Elsie Hendrickson on September 30th, 1929 in Benson, Minnesota. She graduated from Benson High School. She was united in marriage to Robert Christopherson on August 22nd, 1948. They lived in Manitowoc, WI, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota and eventually they settled in Alexandria, Minnesota where they raised their three children; Tim, Craig and Patti.

Millie worked at the Greystone Hotel in Detroit Lakes for a short time, then as a teller for 20 years at Community State Bank in Alexandria retiring in 1991.

Millie liked camping with the family and her favorite place to camp was in the Big Horn Mountains in Wyoming. Millie and Bob lived in the Victoria Heights area of Alexandria, and made lifelong friends who they enjoyed spending time with. They always had a large vegetable garden during the summers, which they spent countless hours working in together. Her greatest joy was visits with her grandchildren!

Millie is survived by her sons Tim (Deb) of New Hope, MN, Craig (Phyllis) of Parkers Prairie, MN and daughter Patti (Eric) Lindgren of Alexandria, MN; Grandchildren Lisa (Eldon) Quam, Brad (Eddie) Saenz-Christopherson, Scott Christopherson, Nicole (Paul) Knutson, Amanda (Aaron) Navratil, Allison (Trevor) Apol, Hannah (Josh) Kampa; Sister Sharon Mittness of Blaine, MN; 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years Robert, her parents Lawrence and Elsie Hendrickson, Mother in-law and Father in-law Nels and Hannah Christopherson, four sisters and three brothers.

Our most sincere thanks to all the staff at Edgewood Memory Care for the care mom received these past 10 years, and to Hospice of Douglas County for their amazing care to her in her last days!

To honor and celebrate Mildred's life, a visitation will be held on January 25, 2025, from 10:00 AM at Anderson Funeral Home Chapel, located at 659 Voyager Drive NW, Alexandria, MN, 56308. A memorial service will follow the visitation at 11:00 AM and interment will take place after at Kinkead Cemetery located at 530 Agnes Blvd NW, Alexandria, MN, 56308. 

As we reflect on the life of Mildred Elaine Christopherson, we remember her not only for the years she was with us but also for the love and warmth that will live on in our hearts. She will be greatly missed.
