Mildred Rolfsen

Mildred Leona (Zang) Rolfzen was born on January 11, 1919 in Sauk Rapids, MN to Christ and Augusta (Kutzurik) Zang. She attended school in Melrose through the eighth grade. Mildred was united in marriage to Edwin Rolfzen on February 14, 1939 in Melrose. The couple was blessed with two children. They lived in Melrose until 1957 when they moved to Sauk Rapids. In 1975 they couple moved to Grey Eagle and then settled in Alexandria in 1983. Mildred was a housewife and mother who always put her family first. Mildred enjoyed gardening, canning, freezing vegetables and growing flowers. She also enjoyed fishing with Edwin, playing games, especially Canasta, and watching wrestling and bull riding. Mildred died on Friday, April 17, 2009 at Bethany Home in Alexandria at the age of 90. She is survived by her son Gary (Karen McCurdy) Rolfzen of St. Cloud and daughter Dorcus (Milford) Auran of Alexandria; grandchildren, Ryan Rolfzen with the USN, Kyle (Desiree) Auran of Thief River Falls and Steven Auran of Alexandria; great-grandchildren, Kolten, Zachary, and Brayden; and many nieces and nephews. Mildred is preceded in death by her parents, Christ and Augusta; husband, Edwin; daughter, Paulette; and brother and sisters, Margaret, Hattie, Bertha, Louise, Harold and Laura. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandria with Reverend William Moeller and Reverend Terry Finnern officiating. Music was provided by organist, JoNette Brogaard and soloist, Dan Olson. Interment was held in the Benton County Cemetery in Sauk Rapids. Casket bearers were Ryan Rolfzen, Steve Auran, Kyle Auran and Gene Beecher. Honorary casket bearers were Mildred?s great-grandchildren. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
