Milton Norstebon

The ever faithful and loving husband, dear friend, and honorable man, Milton David Norstebon passed away on December 3, 2012 at his home at age sixty-nine. Milton was born to Martin and Emma (Norgaarden) Norstebon in Roseau, MN on June 27, 1943. Milton grew up in the farm life with six brothers and two sisters, Milton being the youngest child. Eventually his family moved to town in Perham, MN where Milton graduated from High School. Milton joined the United States Air Force in 1962 on the buddy system with his long time friend, Bruce Lillis. Milton specialized with Pneudralics and missile maintenance. Milton was honorably discharged in 1966. Milton was married to his loving wife of 27 years, Sharon. They were married on June 29, 1985, at Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Milton worked at the Alexandria Culligan and Eagle's #3063. Unfortunately Milton and Sharon had no children. Milton dedicated much of his time to the Eagle's #3063 in his over 40-year membership. Milton received well-earned awards for Mr. Eagle and Past Achievement. As well as having the honors working up through the Aerie officer chairs, Milton achieved Past President status of the Aerie. Milton worked tirelessly over those years of his membership raising monies for national charities the Eagle's fully support, such as Max Bear Heart fund, and the Jimmy Durante Kidney fund. In 1992 Milton and Sharon moved to a small hobby farm in Kensington MN. While working in excavation and construction for Don Lawson of Hoffman, Milton took a job for the City of Herman as city maintenance. In 1996 Milton retired from the City of Herman due to medical conditions. In April 2003 Milton found out he had kidney failure due to diabetes; by December 2004 he had started on Kidney Dialysis. By now macular degeneration had started in his eyes. In December of 2007 Milton had to succumb to the double amputation of his legs. Milton weathered each step in his health with honor, patience and good spirits. In August of 2009 Milton was hospitalized with gallbladder infection that took over his body relentlessly and kept him hospitalized for over three months. Milton enjoyed woodworking, crafts, leatherwork, hunting, and fishing and Minnesota sports teams. Milton stood behind them - win or lose. He enjoyed playing cards and finding something to fix in the garage. Milton is survived by his loving wife, Sharon, of Kensington; sisters, Grace Kirckof of Glenwood and Selma Meyer of Utah; brothers, Melvin of Roseau and Stanley of Idaho; and many nieces and nephews who are spread all over the United States. Milton was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Emma (Norgaarden) Norstebon; brothers, Rueben of Minnesota, Alvin of Idaho, Morris of Montana, and Allen of California. Visiting will be at Anderson Funeral Home from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM on Friday, December 7 at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. A funeral service will begin at 9:30 AM Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be with military honors at Fort Snelling after the funeral. Pallbearers will be Don Pennie, Richard Staples, Dick Iverson, Ken Colgrove, Rick Norstebon and Gary S. Miller. Honorary Pallbearers are those who have been special angels and special friends to Milton and Sharon for so many years. Arrangements are with Anderson Funeral Home.
