Mitchell Brethorst

OBITUARY Mitchell James Brethorst was born on May 16, 1975, in Manitowoc, WI, the son of Harold (Skip) and Kathleen (DeCamp) Brethorst. He was baptized at Faith Lutheran Church in Valders, WI and then moved with his family to Brandon, MN. Mitch graduated from Brandon High School in 1994. After graduation, he went custom combining in Oklahoma and then worked for his Uncle John Brethorst in Chokio, MN as a farm hand. Mitch started his own excavating business in 1996. He purchased Miles Tiling in 2003 and worked throughout Western Minnesota, Eastern North Dakota and South Dakota. He valued the relationships that he made along the way. Mitch met the love of his life, Diane Stark. They were united in marriage in Cocoa Beach, FL on February 15, 2002. Together they had three beautiful children EmmaLee 5, Courtney 3, and Nathan 16 months. Mitch and his family lived in Brandon, MN where his wife and children will remember camping at Little Chip Lake, family vacations, rides in gravel trucks, and playing with their family dog, Digger. Mitch operated two successful businesses and valued his employees. Mitch was a loyal Minnesota Twins fan, liked to hunt deer and bear, ice fishing and work in his shop. He also loved relaxing by the lake with family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend. Mitch looked forward to completing his family with our new arrival coming in May. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him. Mitchell J. Brethorst died on Friday, September 17, 2010 in Barrett, MN at the age of 35 years old. He is survived by his wife of 8 years Diane Brethorst; his children EmmaLee, Courtney, and Nathan; parents Skip and Kathy Brethorst; brothers Jim and Kathy Brethorst of Andover and children Bryce and Brittany; Kurt and Darnell Brethorst of Big Lake, MN and their children Ashley and Austin; twin brother Mike and Jill Brethorst of Barnesville, MN and their children Katelin and Grant; God-parents George and Harriet Roycraft; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Ferd and Teresa Brethorst and James Clifford and Clara DeCamp. A funeral service was held on Monday, September 20, 2010 at Grace Lutheran Church in Brandon, MN with the Reverend Dennis Preston officiating. Laverne Olson played the organ and special music was sung by Rick Stark, Erick Stark and Meredith Runge. Interment was in the Brandon Cemetery. Casket Bearers were Jim Brethorst, Kurt Brethorst, Mike Brethorst, Erick Stark, Joel Grams, and Bryce Brethorst. Arrangements are with Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. www.andersonfuneral.net
