Mitchell Dale Burss Mitchell Dale Burss was born on August 17, 1952 in Our Lady of Mercy Hospital in Alexandria. Mitchell was normal at birth, but suffered and episode of brain damage at four months of age when he had pneumonia and a high fever. He was hospitalized and was in a coma for a number of days. Mitchell was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran religion. Mitchell was cared for by his maternal grandmother, and then an aunt. From 1956 until his admission to Cambridge State Hospital, he resided at the Champion?s Foster Boarding Home. He resided at Cambridge State Hospital from December 9, 1958 to May 27, 1971. He resided at Fergus Falls Regional Treatment Center from May 28, 1971 until October 5, 1995. He has resided at Carlos MSOCS from October 6, 1995 until his death. Mitchell lived with two other mentally handicapped consumers in a home for people with developmental disabilities served by 24 hour shift staff of caring and devoted providers. Mitchell attended Productive Alternatives in Parkers Prairie from October 10, 1995 until his death. Mitchell attended Productive Alternatives, a licensed developmental achievement center with several other consumers and dedicated staff who knew and cared about Mitchell. Mitchell died on March 14, 2010 at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria at the age of 57. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
