Monica Baltes, age 89 of Sartell formerly of Alexandria, passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at the Country Manor. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, December 18, 2017 at 11:00AM. Visitation will take place on Sunday, December 17, 2017 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Parish Prayers at 6:00 PM. Visitation will also take place on hour prior to Mass the day of. Entombment will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
Monica Baltes was born on September 22, 1928 to Henry and Anna Feldhege Buerman in Farming, Minnesota. She graduated from Albany High School in 1947. On May 10, 1949 she married Joseph Mandernach in Farming, MN. To this marriage, two children were born Tim and Gary. On August 21, 1961, she married Erwin Baltes in Farming, MN. To this marriage, one daughter was born, Mary Jo. In addition to being a wife and mother, Monica worked at the Albany Clinic, several restaurants in the Alexandria area and as a patient sitter at the Douglas County Hospital. She enjoyed sewing, crafting and keeping a meticulously clean house.
Monica is survived by her children, Fr. Tim Baltes, Gary (Linda) Baltes and Mary Jo (Jake) West; her grandchildren, Carly (Drew) Hysell, Delaney West and Joey West, and her great-grandchild, Brady Hysell. She is also survived by her siblings, Dorothy Dingmann, Valerie (Jim) Oehrlein, walter (Darlene) Buerman, Alice Luethmers, Clarence (Renee) Buerman, Rosie (Jack) Zimmerman and Eileen (Connie) Stang.
Monica is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joseph on December 19, 1954, her husband, Erv on January 4, 2004 and numerous in-laws.
Mass of Christian Burial for Monica will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alexandria, MN on Monday, December 18, 2017 at 11:00 AM. There will be a wake on Sunday, December 17, 2017 from 4:00 Pm to 6:00 PM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and also one hour prior to mass the day of. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family.
