Monica Margaret Lauritzon was born on June 7, 1915, in Pine River, MN. She grew up with her father, William Lauritzon, an immigrant of Denmark & her mother, Ellen Rose Foley, of St. Charles, MN. Ellen Rose was 100% Irish with her mother and father coming to America during the Irish Potato famine. Monica?s siblings are: Ruth Mary, Marcella, Robert and Helen. Monica went to ?normal school? in St. Cloud, after which she taught in a country school in Swanville, MN. Monica was a diligent saver and had enough money to purchase her new car. In fact, the car dealer actually drove Monica and three other people to pick up their cars ? of these three one was destined to become her husband, Clair Conn ? the rest is history. Monica and Clair were married on June 5, 1941 in Pine River, MN. For a short time the couple lived in Alexandria where their first child, Jim was born. They then moved to Minneapolis, where they had Patricia & Dennis. The family then moved back to Alexandria permanently where they had three more children: Mary, Thomas and Robert. The Conn family lived on Lake Carlos for fifty plus years ? loving the lake, & the beautiful peaceful area where there was much love & a wonderful place called home. Mrs. Conn died on Wednesday, April 9, 2008.
