Myron John Brede age eighty-six of Nelson, passed away at the Douglas County Hospital, on Friday, October 27, 2017. A memorial service will be held at the Anderson Funeral Home on Friday, November 3, 2017 at 11:00 AM, with a visitation taking place one hour prior at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Geneva Cemetery.
Myron John Brede was born April 2, 1931, son of Erhard and Helen Brede (Larson). Myron was raised and attended school in Alexandria, Minnesota. Myron joined the Army in March 12, 1953. The Korean war had just ended so he served in Germany. After the service, he came home to work on the family farm. On September 8, 1956, he married Gloria Little, this union was blessed with five children, Mark, Greg, Linda, Brian and Jeffrey. They moved to San Diego, California, where Myron worked at Aurora Aircraft until 1958 when they moved back to Minnesota. Myron purchased a farm in nelson, MN, where he lived for fifty-nine years. In 1962, Myron started a job at Coca-Cola until he accepted a job at the post office in 1971 as a rural mail carrier. He delivered mail for twenty-four years, until his retirement in 1995. At that time, he was able to put all his energy into farming. He farmed until his passing.
When Myron was not busy working, he would occasionally go fishing or flying in his airplane, but he truly loved to travel. He traveled all over the United States and to many other countries. He loved his yearly trips to Mazatlán, Mexico. This was a trip that he and family or friends visited for thirty-one years. Myron can confidently say that and was proud that he had flown over one million miles in his life.
Myron passed away suddenly at the Douglas County Hospital, on Friday, October 27, 2017. Myron is preceded in death by his parents, Erhard and Helen Brede; sister, Janet; and grandson, Jeremy. He is survived by his children, Mark Brede, Greg (Victoria) Brede, Linda (Steve) Miller, Brian Brede and Jeffrey (Lori) Brede; thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; brother, Mike Brede; and niece, Melissa Brede.
