Nancy Norling, 63, passed away just before sunrise on easter morning, Sunday, April 21 in Osakis, MN.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, May 4 at the Galeon chapel, 410 W. Main Street, Osakis with Rev. David Gran officiating.
There be a time of visitation 4:00 - 6:00pm on Friday, May 3 at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria and also for one hour prior to Saturday's service at the Galeon in Osakis.
Interment will be at St. Luke's Lutheran Cemetery, Garfield.
Nancy Kay Norling was born in Alexandria on December 31, 1955 to Vernon and Eleanor Norling, and was raised in rural Garfield.
She was a proud alumnus of Minnesota State University, Moorhead.
Over the course of her lifetime, she had been involved in the fields of social work and life-skills instruction and had also been employed by North Dakota State University, the Minnesota
Department of Transportation, Douglas County Library, the US Census Bureau and Douglas County Historical Society.
Perhaps of greatest professional and personal impact were the seven summers that she spent living and working in Glacier National Park, employed at various times by both private
contractors and the National Park Service. To Nancy, the mountains, rivers, forests and trails of western Montana were sources of inspiration and spiritual renewal.
Starting in her early childhood, Nancy enjoyed playing piano and appreciated the way that music could make people happy, even in the most difficult of circumstances.
She loved drawing and artwork, cats and kittens, travel and cooking.
Most of all, she dearly loved her friends and family, and was a caregiver for both her father and mother in times of health challenges.
Nancy's family are very grateful to the staff of the Galeon and Community Memorial of Osakis for their care and kindness. Special thanks, also, to Cindy Christensen, Kathy and Terry Sletto,
Joel Albertson, Rev. Lauren Hauger and Rev. David and Anne Gran for spiritual support and friendship that all have bestowed upon Nancy and those closest to her over the course of her
illness and passing.
Nancy is survived by her mother Eleanor Norling of Osakis, brother Gary Norling (Jenny) of Arbor Vitae, Wisconsin, nephew Cody Norling of Vallejo, California, and her love of her life and
traveling companion Al Davison, for whom she will forever be a guardian angel.
She was preceded in death by her father, Vernon Norling.
Nancy's family ask that memorials to the American Cancer Society or Angel Foundation be considered.
