Nancy Ann (Myers) Pedersen was born on March 20, 1935 in Tacoma, WA to Cecil and Ruth (MacBreen) Myers. She accepted Jesus as her savior at the age of 10 and was baptized on Easter Sunday. Nancy graduated from Lincoln High School in Tacoma, WA and started working at the telephone company as a bookkeeper.
Nancy was united in marriage to Russell Pedersen on June 7, 1957 at the First Presbyterian Church in Tacoma, WA. The couple was blessed with 5 children, Allen, Bruce, David, Pamela and Lynn. After the kids were born, Nancy was a homemaker. The family moved to Alexandria in 1968 and Nancy went to work a bookkeeper at Hubbard Milling and First State Bank. A few years later she started working as the bookkeeper for Alexandria City Hall and retired in 1985.
Nancy was so thankful to have Jesus in her heart and life. She was very active in many areas at church, youth group, Youth for Christ, and choir. She loved all types of music from gospel, The Gathers, patriotic songs to the piano.
One of her favorite places was Washington State with Mount Rainier and Puget Sound being her favorites. Her most favorite place was home and being with her family.
Nancy died on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Heritage of Foley in Foley, MN at the age of 82. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Russell; sons, Allen (Wendy) Pedersen of Mayer, MN and Bruce (Sara Taylor) Pedersen of Gulf Shores, AL; daughters, Pamela (Dan) Botker and Lynn (Brad) Pierce both of Alexandria; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Wiseman of Renton, WA, Bernice Oellien of Madison, MN and Arlys Benson of Marietta, MN; and nieces and nephews. Nancy is preceded in death by her son, David Pedersen; granddaughter, Erin Botker; parents, Ruth and Cecil Myers; and brother, Robert Myers.
A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 30, 2017, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria with Reverend John LeVahn officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Interment will be at Kinkead Cemetery in Alexandria.
