Nelorie Moberg, age 85, of Kensington, died Saturday, February 28, 2015. A funeral service will be held 1 PM Thursday, March 5, 2015 at First Lutheran Church in Kensington. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM Wednesday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria and also one hour prior to the service at church.
OBITUARY
Nelorie Darlene Moberg died February 28, 2015 at the age of 85 at her home in Kensington.
Nelorie was born December 24, 1929 to Andrew and Guida (Johnson) Thue in Erdahl Township. She graduated from Kensington High School in 1947. She worked as a waitress, sales clerk in the grocery store and hardware store and also worked in the nursing home as a cook.
On June 20, 1948 she was united in marriage to Harold Moberg at her parent’s home in Kensington by Pastor Chell. Following their marriage, they lived on a farm south of Kensington and raised their family there. They were blessed with three children, Janet, Kenneth and Nancy. Nelorie spent many years raising her children and making a good home for them. After retiring, Nelorie continued to stay on the farm while enjoying country living.
Nelorie loved her Church and was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Kensington. She continued serving her Church by being active with Sunday school, bible school, church council, LCW, choir and also known for her singing. She sang solos, duets and was involved in a trio group. She enjoyed living on the farm, milking cows, feeding calves and taking care of her pets. Nelorie enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking her famous caramel rolls and keeping her yard and flowers blooming and looking beautiful. Nelorie enjoyed playing Mexican Train with her friends and this weekly event kept her busy and much laughter was shared. Nelorie loved her children and especially loved time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Many gatherings were held with the family at Nelorie’s house or also known as “Gram’s farm” playing games and enjoying her great food.
Nelorie is lovingly remembered by her three children, Janet Hagen and friend Gary Ritzschke of Kensington, Kenneth (Theresa) Moberg of Alexandria and Nancy (Earl) Thompson of Alexandria; six grandchildren, Jeremy Hagen, Tracy Hagen and fiancANLGAC. Matt Marlow, Kia (Nick) Alton, Justin Moberg, Alicia (Mark) Schmidt, and Casey (Shawnna) Thompson. Eight great grandchildren, Kaylee and Morgan Harstad, Mya and Nora Schmidt, Wesley Alton, Chloe and Isabelle Marlow and Crosby Thompson; one sister, Mildred Lutz and one brother, Deloss (Esther) Thue and many nieces and nephews.
Nelorie was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Guida Thue; husband, Harold Moberg; one brother, Ervin Thue and wife Florence, brother-in-law, Stan Lutz, and niece Patty Davies (Thue).
A funeral service was held March 5 2015 at First Lutheran Church in Kensington with Pastor Kathryn Rothman officiating.
