Norma M. Langsev age 79 of Alexandria died on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at her home. A Memorial Service will be held 3:00 PM on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Knute Nelson Chapel in Alexandria. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Knute Nelson on Tuesday.
OBITUARY
Norma Marie Langsev was born on December 2, 1935 in Boston, Massachusetts to Durwood and Cora (Keefe) Story. She attended South High School in Boston.
Norma married Jack Asplund and to this union had three daughters; Jackie, Jodi and Julie. Norma and Jack met in Boston while Jack was in the Navy. The family moved to Columbia Heights, Minnesota. Norma worked as a waitress and in the shipping department at Sears. On June 5, 1971, Norma was united in marriage to Eldon Langsev in Aberdeen, South Dakota. The couple continued to live in Minneapolis and moved to Alexandria in the late 1980’s. Then, in 1999, the couple moved to St. Cloud and returned to Alexandria in August of 2013.
Norma enjoyed researching her family’s genealogy. She made many trips to help research and see where families lived. She found family ties to Jimmy Carter, Nathan Hale, The House of Seven Gables, and the Salem Witches Trial. After retirement, Norma and Eldon enjoyed traveling. Some of their favorite destinations included Mexico, Boston and San Francisco. Norma loved watching suspense and thriller movies. Documentaries were her favorite. Watching so many movies, she was very good at movie trivia. She also loved her dogs, Coke, a Duke mixture, and Sandy, a poodle.
Norma died on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at her home at the age of 79. She is survived by her husband, Eldon of Alexandria; daughters, Jackie (Vern) Jeys of San Antonio, Jodi Hill of Hoffman, and Julie (Karl) Ressler of Alva, OK; grandchildren, Holly, Heather, Sandy, Liz, Roxy, Don, Vern, Michael and Matt; and 14 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Norma is preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Angie; and great-grandson, Trayton.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Knute Nelson Chapel in Alexandria with Reverend Patricia Baglien. Inurnment will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.
