: Odilia “Thoennes” Roers died at 86 on Tuesday, May 17th surrounded by family.
Odilia (Toddy) was born on December 27, 1929 in Urbank, Minnesota the daughter of John and Bertha Thoennes. In her own words from her 50th class reunion . . . I do believe I have experienced all of life. I married, had a family of seven children, 26 grand and great grandchildren, divorced, and learned to be single again.
I retired in 1994, bummed around for two years between the East Coast and Arizona before deciding where to put down roots again. I loved living in Arizona! The winters and sunsets (never up early enough for sunrise). I made quilts, played bridge, fished, bowled, volunteered at the Safford Chamber Visitor Center, and gloated when people came from the Midwest in January. My next goal is finding a beginning golf partner, who knows . . .
Toddy is preceded in death by her parents, son Larry, and all of her siblings. She is survived by her children George (Susan) Roers, Jeffrey (Judith) Roers, Greg Roers, Peter (Lynne) Roers, Paul (Jean) Roers, Marvelle (Ed) Weispfennig, 14 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and 3 more on the way.
