Odilia Steidl

Odilia Ann (Revering) Steidl was born on November 18, 1932 in Effington township. She was the youngest of 5 children born to Stephen and Anna (Thoennes) Revering. On June 21, 1950, she married Lawrence Steidl at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Urbank, MN. Nine Children were born to this union; Mary Ann, Jerry, Larry (Terry), Stephanie, Paul, Pam, Kurt, Jacqueline, and Stacy.

Odilia lived a busy life raising her 9 children while helping on the farm.  She would plant a large garden every year and enjoyed canning with her children.  Later in life, Odilia and Larry owned an antique shop, which they enjoyed as their hobby. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella and was an avid quilter. Odilia loved to bake and always had something ready to serve company. At Christmas, she often designed and baked the most beautiful gingerbread houses. She loved hosting parties and especially loved listening to polka music, with a good kaduper.  The card game ‘PIT’ was an all-time family favorite she enjoyed immensely.  She was such a classy lady, as it was important to always look her best.

Odilia was an avid card player, especially whist. She was a hard one to beat in that game. She also loved Bingo and was often the one calling out “BINGO”!! Odilia loved to travel, often going out west to visit her sisters. A few of her highlights were her trips with Larry to New York City and Las Vegas, as well as a cruise to Cabo San Lucas. Odilia always remembered everyone’s birthday with a card, including her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a good and loving mother and will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Odilia died unexpectedly on July 10, 2019; she was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Anna Revering; husband, Larry Steidl, and daughter-in-law Nancy (Muyres) Steidl, wife of Jerry and mother of Ryan and Shana.

She is survived by her 9 children and their families: Mike and Mary Ann Suter: children Breanne and Jake Lunemann, (Piper and Hawthorne), Ben and Kelly Suter. Jerry Steidl and Karen Davidson: Jerry’s children, Ryan and Celina Steidl (Alexis, Luke and Brenna), Shana and Mark Halvorson, (Norah and Brooke). Larry (Terry) and Judy Steidl: children Derek and Savanna Steidl (Taylor and Avery), Cassie and Zach Waldorf. Stephanie and Paul Halverson: children Zachary Zimmel, Brett and Kaggen Zimmel, Kala and Aaron Fisher, (Noah and Olivia), Jordan and Amanda Halverson (Sydney), Shelby Halverson and Manny Torres (Emani). Paul and Julie Steidl: children Sheila and Andrew Jackson, (Ethan and Emily), Spencer Steidl. Pamela Thielke: children Ashton Thielke and Brock Thielke. Kurt and Marlys Steidl: children Keith and Sarah Steidl, Samantha Steidl and fiancée Jeff Montoya. Jacqueline and Paul Brusven: children Dylan Brusven and Brandon Brusven. Stacy and Kathy Steidl: children Preston Steidl and Peyton Steidl.

Visitation will be on Sunday, July 14th, from 4-7 PM, with a Daughters of Isabella Rosary at 6:30 PM, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Visitation will continue on Monday, July 15th at 10 AM at the St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Belle River, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Interment will be in the St. Nicholas Cemetery.
