Olive Caron

Olive Caron, age 96, of Glenwood, formerly of Alexandria, died Wednesday, March 11, 2015. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1:30 PM Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at the Church of St. Mary in Alexandria. Entombment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 PM Monday with parish prayers at 4 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Additional visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church.
OBITUARY
Olive Ellen Smith was born August 8, 1918 in Faribault, MN, the daughter of Lucius and Emma (Haley) Smith. She was raised in Faribault where she graduated from high school. Olive continued her education in accounting at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.
Olive began her career in accounting at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Later she worked for IBM in Rochester.
In June 1963 Olive was united in marriage to Delbert Caron in Faribault where the couple made their home. They later moved to Alexandria, MN to take over the operation of the local Hamm’s Beer distributorship. She helped do the bookkeeping for the distributor. Olive also worked as a bookkeeper for Gill Moe and Tire Associates. For eighteen years Olive did the payroll for Bethany Home.
Olive liked to garden and raise vegetables; she and Delbert did a lot of canning. She enjoyed making trips to Denver, CO to be with her son. For many years Olive volunteered her time to help with the collection at church.
On Wednesday, March 11, 2015 Olive died at the age of ninety-six years. She was preceded in death by her brother, Wayne Smith. Olive is survived by her husband, Delbert Caron of Alexandria; daughter, Judy Viera and husband, Ken, of St. Paul, MN; son, Todd Caron and wife, Diane, of Denver; sister, June Smith of Roseville, MN; and four grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at the Church of St. Mary in Alexandria. Reverend Father Steve Binsfeld was the celebrant. Entombment followed in the church cemetery.
