Otis Kuehl

Otis Kuehl was born to Charles and Sigrid (Welta) Kuehl on December 18, 1922 on the family farm.  He graduated from Alexandria High School in 1942.  He then worked for the Alexandria Creamery later Land O’ Lakes for 30 years.  His job was to load 100 pound cream cans in double decker truck.

Otis was married to Evangeline Helgeson on September 2, 1945.  To this union five children were born.  Otis was born on the farm his grandfather Welta homesteaded in 1910.  He lived on this farm for most of his years.  Otis helped his father run the farm until Charles retired then Otis and his family ran the farm while working at Land O’ Lakes.

He was a member of the Alexandria National Guard, Fraternal Member Order of Eagles since 1964.  Otis helped the Eagles Club run bingo for 42 years.

He made many knick-knacks items for his family which included shelves, book shelves, planters, outdoor archways and swings.

Otis died on Thursday, May 3, 2018.  He is survived by his wife, Evangeline; children: Sandra (Edward Sr.) Thorson, Ronald (Linda), Leslie (Ellen), Linda (Rich) Paplow, Victoria (Kevin) Mullen; sixteen grandchildren: Edward Jr., Shawn, Travis Thorson, Kristine, Karla, Kandi Kuehl, Damon, Derek, Trenton, Sadie, Brandt Kuehl, Devon, Telly, Nicky Ysker, Jennifer, Matthew Johnson; 31 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Charles & Sigrid Kuehl.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 7th, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.  Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Burial will be at Kinkead Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Let's Go Fishing and Alzheimer's Foundation
