Patricia Lorsung

Patricia Ann Lorsung (Patty) was born July 29, 1940 in Benson, Minnesota. The daughter of Eddie L. Kvam and Minnie J. Kvam (Opoien) of Swift County, Benson, MN. Patty grew up on her parents? farm southwest of Benson and graduated from Benson High School in 1958. She was looking forward to attending her 55th high school class reunion this September. Mom worked at the James Bjerk Photography Studio as a professional photo colorist for many years. On October 22, 1960 Patty married the love of her life and the person who has been her best friend for life, Darrell Lorsung. They happily celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary last year. Before having children, Patty and Darrell moved to Nashville, TN where Darrell would complete his graduate degree and Patty would continue to work as a photo colorist via U.S. Mail, until they returned to Benson. On April 4th 1966, their son Darren was born and the family moved to Bemidji, MN. The family settled in the Nymore neighborhood southeast of Bemidji and it was while living here that their daughter Tracy was born on August 19th, 1969. Patty enjoyed spending time with her kids, friends, and family and was always busy with church and school activities. In 1977, they moved to their home located on Frontenac Lake, just outside of Bemidji, where their community of friends continued to grow. She enjoyed so much here, being outdoors gardening & fishing and watching all of nature, including the many different birds that visited her bird feeders, especially the humming birds that she fed with her homemade humming bird juice. She enjoyed being with friends, living, loving and laughing. As her grandchildren have grown, she has passed this love of the outdoors and fishing on to them. Patty loved spending her quiet time painting, creating projects for Darrell ?. that they would then give as gifts to family and friends. She was always giving, happy, and ever the optimist. Over and over she has been called a very special lady, an angel of sorts, to all of us who have been blessed to have her in our lives. Patty?s laugh and her smile, her words of wisdom, and her occasional stubborn Norwegian spirit live on. Unexpectedly, she was called to God and reunited with her son Darren, on Sunday, August 25, 2013. She will be loved and missed forever. Patty is survived by her husband Darrell, her daughter Tracy Peloquin of Stillwater MN, her grandsons Kade and Owen Peloquin, her brothers John Kvam and Jim Kvam. Preceding her in death were her son Darren in 1982, her parents Ed & Minnie Kvam, her brother Eldon Kvam.
