Patrick James Neurer started life on February 16, 1956, in St. Paul, Minnesota born into hardship and a rough area he quickly had to grow up and take care of his family as did his seven brothers and sisters. That was the mold he was cut from. His motto in life was to work hard have good ethics and a passion for people. Pat received his GED and continued onto complete a Bachelor?s Degree in Sociology and Psychology. Graduating from St. Cloud State Summa Cum Laude and top of his class. But not before serving our country on the USS Hancock and being involved in the evacuation of Vietnam during the war. His application was accepted at the young age of thirty at Project New Hope in Alexandria, MN. He accepted the Executive Directors position. Pat devoted his life and energy into Project New Hope and it flourished into what we know today as the Alexandria Opportunities Center (AOC). The AOC was the focus in his life providing in his words ?Whats best for the folks in our program?. Patrick also enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with his children and anything to do with the outdoors. He will be remembered as a giving man which shows in the huge impact in all of our lives. Patrick Neurer Sr. died on Saturday, July 9, 2011. He is survived by his oldest son, Bill; daughter, Shannon, son, P.J. & wife, Cassie; granddaughter, Elliana; brothers: Joe, John and Larry; sisters: Marianne, Carol, Janet. He was preceded in death by his parents : Margaret and Harold; sister, Jean. Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, July 15, 2011, 3:00 p.m. at Mount Carmel with Rev. John LeVahn officiating.
