Paul was born on December 30, 1942, in Erdahl, MN, the son of William and Myrtle Lohmeyer. He attended school in Barrett, MN and was raised on a dairy farm close to Barrett in Grant County. Paul worked hard during those years growing up and didn't get much time for extracurricular activities, although he did partake in the 4H program and received many Blue ribbons with his 4-H Dairy projects. He attended the University of MN for a year but decided his passion was for Dairy Farming and returned home.
He was united in marriage to Shirley Harstad on Feb. 14, 1981 and spent the next several years on the farm after his parents retired. After selling the farm, he worked several years as a nutritionist for the Greenwald, MN elevator. He got quite well acquainted in the Greenwald area with his various clients. Most people were eager to get his advice with their farming programs and he enjoyed visiting with them. He also worked part-time at the Ten Sleep landfill. He enjoyed meeting the people in the Ten Sleep area and there too enjoyed visiting with everyone. He especially liked ice fishing in Minnesota and elk hunting in Wyoming.
They lived near Battle Lake, MN and Alexandria, MN before retiring to Wyoming.
Paul and Shirley enjoyed many winter vacation cruises and trips throughout the country.
Paul will be sadly missed and is survived by his wife, Shirley, 5 stepchildren, Jeff (Lisa) Harstad, of Donnelly, MN, Renee (John) Lynch, of New Milford, Ct, Scott Harstad, of Ten Sleep, WY, Doreen (Eldon) Strom of Alexandria, MN and Todd (Shana) Harstad of Ten Sleep, WY, 12 step grandchildren and 9 step great grandchildren. Also his sister, Charlotte Gulbrandson, nephews Robert, James, David and Eric and niece Karlene.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Karl.
