Paul John Miller, age 86, of Woodbury MN, formerly of Alexandria, died on August 18, 2022, at the United Hospital in St Paul.
Paul was born June 21st, 1936, in Albany, MN to Christ and Margaret (Kepper) Miller. Paul attended local country school to the 9th grade and then helped his dad farm. He later left home to become a Missionary Brother known as, Brother Christopher, at Society of the Devine Word in Techney IL. Paul left for overseas to Papua New Guinea in 1963 to build churches and do mission work. Paul left New Guinea in 1970 and came back to the Albany area and worked as a self-employed carpenter building many homes and apartments. Then on a blind date in 1971, he met the love of his life, Marilyn A. Stodolka. They were united in marriage October 7th, 1972, at St Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church in Bowlus, MN. Together they raised their two daughters, Pamela and Paula, in the home Paul built in Anoka, MN. In the Fall of 1995, Paul and Marilyn purchased lake property by Lake Ida in Alexandria, MN, where they spent most weekends. They left Anoka and moved up to the lake in the Spring of 2004, where Paul built their home.
Paul had a life-long love affair with fishing, especially fishing with those he loved, his daughters, grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Paul enjoyed mowing the yards with Marilyn on his riding John Deere tractor and always made sure the “Miller’s” had the best looking lawn in the neighborhood. He was an avid Vikings and Twins fan who’d enjoy a beer or two watching or listening to them play. Paul loved to show off his dancing skills and would grab a family member to waltz or polka. He always had a smile on his face and would do anything for those he loved. Later Paul enjoyed making trips to the Casino with Marilyn and family members where he’d test his luck. Paul was a devoted, loving father to his daughters and grandchildren. He cherished his family as he did his faith. Paul sowed seeds of both life and love wherever he went.
He is survived by his two daughters, Pamela (Sean) Sigler of Cottage Grove, MN and Paula Ulrickson of Sioux Falls, SD; five grandchildren, Connor Sigler, Ethan Sigler, Brooklyn Ulrickson, Lauren Sigler, and step-grandson, Sam Ulrickson. Brother and sisters, Sister Loretta OSF, Peoria, IL, Leona Leyh, Long Prairie, MN, Alex (Cathy) Miller, St. Simons Island, GA, and Jenny Nagel, Stillwater, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Norb Miller; and sister, Hildegard Birr.
The family of Paul J. Miller would like to thank everyone for helping us celebrate the life of our father. Though he is no longer with us here on this earth, we know that he is watching over us. God has called back one of His precious angels.
