Peggy Cassell

Peggy Ann (Tidgwell) Cassell was born on September 29, 1961 in St. Paul, MN to Kenneth and Ruby (Henegar) Tidgwell. She was baptized at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in St. Paul. Peggy graduated from Anoka High School in 1979. She began her work with United States Postal Service in Minneapolis as a clerk right out of high school. It was at the postal service that Peggy would meet her future husband James. Peggy was united in marriage to James C. Cassell on October 17, 1985 at St. Gerard?s Catholic Church in Champlin. The couple was blessed with two daughters, Kyleen and Natalie. The couple moved to Alexandria in the summer of 1994 to continue their service with the United States Postal Service. Peggy enjoyed the outdoors, ice fishing, playing sports, and flower gardening. She loved people and being with them, especially children. Peggy died on Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at the Douglas County Hospital at the age of 46 after a long 10-year courageous battle with breast cancer. She is survived by her husband, Jim of Nelson; daughters, Kyleen and Natalie Cassell both of Nelson; grandson, Reid Pakarek; parents, Kenneth and Ruby Tidgwell of Brainerd; parent-in-laws, Vernon (Lorraine) Cassell and LaVonne Cassell all of Alexandria; sisters, Lynda Renstrom of Coon Rapids, Susan Olson of Coon Rapids, and Pamela Dewey of Osakis; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Alexandria with Reverend Steven Binsfeld officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in the Nelson Cemetery in Nelson. Honorary Urnbearers were the Ya-Ya Sisterhood Sisters. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
