Peggy Gustin

Peggy Gustin Peggy June (Sather) Gustin was born on November 30, 1924 in Hudson Township, Douglas County, Minnesota to Clifford and Violet (Vickerman) Sather. She attended grade school in Nelson and Central High School in Alexandria until the 10th grade. The family moved to Portland, OR after the death of Peggy?s sister Eileen. Peggy graduated from Franklin High School in Portland, OR and then worked in the ship yard as a welder until World War II ended. Peggy was united in marriage to Harry Gustin on June 6, 1946 in Vancouver, WA. The couple resided in Portland, OR where she was a homemaker. In 1970, Peggy moved into St. Luke?s in Alexandria where she lived for several years. She then moved into Crestview Manor in Evansville in 1993. Peggy was a very talented artist, drawing pictures of scenery and portraits. In her younger years she enjoyed riding horseback, dancing, roller skating and being in the 4-H club in Nelson. Peggy died on Monday, February 9, 2009 at the Crestview Manor in Evansville at the age of 84. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Gustin of Eugene, OR; grandson, Gary Gustin of Camas, WA; one great-granddaughter; sister, Evelyn (Rojett) Trisco of Milwaukee, WI: nephews, Thomas and Richard Trisco; and many cousins. Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Violet; husband, Harry; son, Bruce; daughter, Sheryl; sister, Eileen, and nephew, Terry. A funeral service was held on Friday, February 13, 2009 at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Alexandria officiated by Jeremy Symanietz. Interment was held in the Nelson Cemetery. Casket bearers were Don Sather, Rick Trisco, Kevin Sather, Michael Eddy, Tom Trisco, Roger Vickerman. Honorary casket bearers were Marvin Eddy, Robert Sather, Jerry Sather and Rojett Trisco. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
