Philip Lehn

Philip Jerome Lehn was born on November 25, 1946, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota the son of Leo and Evelyn (Melkert) Lehn. He attended school in Fergus Falls and graduated in 1964. Phil continued his education at Wadena Technical College and received his degree in Auto Mechanics. Phil had a huge passion for engine building and during this time he and his brother, Michael enjoyed working at a Chevy/Olds dealership during the week and then drag raced in NHRA - Division 5 across the country to different race tracks. On September 27, 1975, Phil was united in marriage to Kathleen Neumann in Barnesville, Minnesota. After their marriage the couple moved to Preston, Minnesota where Phil started teaching Automotive Technology at the South Eastern Cooperative. He taught automotive technology for ten years while starting his own automotive repair shop. In 1998, the family moved to Alexandria where Phil continued to run his own business. Phil will be remembered as someone who could see creative solutions to mechanical problems when everyone else was in a fog. Phil was a patient man, always happy, and loved camping with his friends and family. He enjoyed family gatherings, playing cards and e-mailing jokes to friends and family a couple times a week. Philip died suddenly at his home on Monday, March 4, 2013. He is survived by his wife, Kathy; son, Christopher & wife, Katie Lehn of Carlos; daughter, Theresa Lehn of Savannah, GA; grandson, Matthew; brother, Michael & wife, Burdette Miller-Lehn of St. Cloud; nieces, nephews, cousins and special extended family: Jeff & Bonnie Ahlbrecht, Elaine & Shane Vogel. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Rosalie & Rosemary; brother, Sylvester. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Alexandria. Burial will be at the St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Elizabeth, MN.
