Phyllis Emogene Olson, the daughter of Clifford and Sabina (Rhodes) Lucas, was born on May 28, 1925 in Alexandria, MN.  She graduated from Central High School in Alexandria.  She was united in marriage on July 12, 1944 to Arnold Olson at the Evansville Church Parsonage.  Together they lived on a farm near Evansville and in Alexandria.

Phyllis loved to cook and bake.  She liked to test new recipes, but creamed chicken was everyone’s favorite.  She also made beautiful quilts to give as gifts to family and her church.  Some of Phyllis’s hobbies were picking blueberries, fishing with Arnold, and having coffee and playing cards with friends and family.  She was fond of sharing special poems and verses in her correspondence with family and friends.

Phyllis E. Olson died on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at Bethany on the Lake at the age of 94 years old.  She is survived by her loving children, Shirley Smith of Alexandria, Elizabeth (Michael) Betterman of Dent, and Ronald (Teresa) Olson of Alexandria; grandchildren, Scott (Roxanne) Riesselman, Carey Smith, Lonnie Smith, David (Danielle) Betterman, Jason (Jennifer Philippi) Betterman, Denise (Kenneth) Holm, Wendy (Steve) Dulski , Riley Olson, Mandy (Craig) Schultz, Marcie (Chad) Christensen, and Ramey Olson; and numerous great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband Arnold, daughter, Victoria, brothers and sisters.

A Private Family Funeral Service was held at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, May 1, 2020.  Interment was in the Geneva Cemetery near Alexandria.  Casket Bearers were Kenneth Holm, David Betterman, Jason Betterman, Riley Olson, Scott Riesselman, and Lonnie Smith.
