Phyllis Seal

Phyllis A. Seal age 96 Phyllis Almyra Seal was born in Cottonwood, MN, Lyon County on April 3, 1916 to Edward and Clara (Zempel) Fratzke. She graduated from Cottonwood High School in May of 1933. After which she attended Business College. On March 17, 1935 she married Glendon Seal of Verndale, MN at the English Lutheran Church in Cottonwood, MN. They resided in Verndale, MN and in 1943 they moved to Alexandria, MN where Glendon was employed by Land O? Lakes until his retirement. Phyllis was employed by Sears & Roebuck during her working career. She was active at Zion Lutheran Church in the Lutheran Women?s Missionary League where she served as historian and she also taught Sunday School. She and Glendon were volunteers at Knute Nelson Home starting in 1979 and in 1996 they were selected as Minnesota Volunteers of the Year. In 1997, they were chosen as National Volunteers of the Year. Phyllis enjoyed working with people and continued at Knute Nelson until 2004. She and Glendon spent many retirement winters in Palm Springs, CA and enjoyed traveling. Phyllis died on Friday, September 28, 2012 at Knute Nelson at the age of 96. She is survived by one son, Richard (Joann) Seal of Sauk Rapids; daughter-in-law Carol Seal of Bloomington, MN; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brothers, Harold and Charles Fratzke. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Clara; husband, Glendon; son, William; grandchildren, Terry Lee Seal and Margaret Jean Seal; and sister, Dorothy Brown. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandria with Reverends Terry Finnern and David Hinz officiating. Music was provided by organist, Irma Brockberg, and soloist, Reverend David Hinz. Interment was held at Sunset Memorial Park of Kinkead Cemetery in Alexandria. Casket bearers were Phyllis?s grandchildren, Susan Rivers, John Seal, Joel Seal, Nick Seal, Elizabeth Seal, Glendon Seal, and William Seal; and Phyllis?s great-grandchildren, Sean Clethen and Shyenne Clethen. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria
