RaNae Guylene (Grove) Cornelis was born on July 31, 1951 in Alexandria, MN to Orien and Thelma Mabel (Lund) Grove. She was baptized in Barrett, MN and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Holmes City. RaNae attended country school near Pocket Lake School District number 4 through the eighth grade. RaNae married Charles Cornelis in 1971 in Fort Madison, IA. To this union they had three children, Lisa, Melissa, and Charlie. RaNae moved back to Alexandria in 1977, where she was a devoted mother, grandmother, homemaker, and avid animal lover. RaNae enjoyed reading and watching the Vikings, Twins and Fox News. RaNae loved to cook and entertain. Holidays were very important to her. She could never say no when her kids kept bringing home stray cats and dogs. Most importantly she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was very excited about the upcoming birth of her first great-grandchild. RaNae died on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at the Douglas County Hospital at the age of 61. She is survived by her children, Lisa Moyle, Melissa Cornelis, and Charlie Cornelis all of Alexandria; grandchildren, Kayla (Corey) Nelson, Dylan Platt, Levi Cornelis, Natasja Moyle, Mariah Moyle, and Connor Finnegan; brother, Arden (Sharon) Grove of Mount Clemens, MI and Truman (Claudine) Grove of Holmes City; sisters, Gladys Rajdl of Alexandria, Marlene Sayre of Evansville and JoAnn (Ed) Grussing of Garfield; and many nieces and nephews. RaNae was preceded in death by her parents, Orien and Thelma; sisters, Sharon Grove and LaVonne Jenson; niece, Melissa Rajdl; brother-in-laws, Richard Sayre and Herbert Rajdl. A funeral service was held on Monday, November 12, 2012 at Church For The Harvest with Pastor Michael Bartolomeo officiating. Music was provided by violist, Claire Middendorf. Interment was in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Holmes City. Casket bears were Charlie Cornelis, Truman Grove, Arden Grove, Levi Cornelis, Dylan Platt, Wade Grussing and Bradley Grove. Honorary casket bear was Connor Finnegan. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria
